Efficient and responsible use of water

Water is an essential part of our production processes, but it is also a finite and increasingly scarce resource. At Suzuki Garphyttan, we are committed to using water responsibly by saving, recycling, and optimizing water use across all our sites.

Each facility has its own systems for sourcing, treatment, and recycling, and all sites actively work to improve their local water management.

To reduce water consumption and wastewater generation, we have set a clear target:

- By 2030, our total water consumption will be limited to 700 litres per ton of wire produced, calculated according to the BAT-AEPLs methodology for specific water consumption in FMP BAT.

Optimize water consumption

Our target is to optimize water consumption in our operation and reduce the volume of wastewater generated.

By 2030, total water consumption within operations will be reduced to 700 liters per ton of wire produced, lowering wastewater volumes and improving efficiency.

Best Available Technique (BAT)

Our site in Garphyttan is regulated by Best Available Technique (BAT) conclusions, which cover water consumption, measurement frequency, and emission levels.

These requirements go beyond the emission levels in our operational permits and set stricter standards for water use and wastewater management.

The BAT conclusions also specify approved techniques to ensure compliance with emission thresholds. At Garphyttan, we have reported the current status of our water management system and outlined how we will meet all requirements by 2026 at the latest.

Through this systematic approach, we aim to optimize water use, reduce emissions to water, and protect local ecosystems, while supporting our global sustainability goals.
