Safety as a strategic priority

At Suzuki Garphyttan, a safe and healthy work environment is a core strategic priority. All employees should feel confident that their workplace supports their well-being and protects them from harm.

In 2024, we saw our strongest safety results since measurements began, with workplace accidents decreasing at an accelerated pace. This shows that our focus on preventive measures and risk awareness is working. Still, our journey continues toward our main goal: achieving zero accidents by 2025.

Preventive safety culture

Reaching zero accidents requires more than procedures — it requires a strong safety-oriented mindset across the company. We work continuously to:

    • Raise awareness of potential risks.
    • Encourage preventive reporting to identify hazards early.
    • Implement protective measures to avoid accidents.
    • Foster a caring culture, where colleagues look out for each other.

This proactive approach has already led to improved results, with clear correlations between higher numbers of reported risks and a significant decrease in incidents.

In 2024, we also updated our definitions of safety deviations, accidents, and near misses to align with industry standards. While this enhanced comparability, the substantial improvement in results reflects real progress in both numbers and culture.

Collaboration, compliance, and engagement

Safety at Suzuki Garphyttan is built on collaboration between our global safety officer and local safety representatives. Together, we balance raising awareness, guiding behavior change, and implementing technical solutions that strengthen our safety culture. Leaders play an active role, while employees take ownership, ensuring a shared responsibility for workplace safety.

We maintain compliance with legal requirements and ISO standards through regular internal audits and external certification processes. Beyond compliance, we actively drive engagement:

    • Since 2022, we have organized a bi-annual Suzuki Garphyttan Safety Week, involving all employees and covering topics from safe wire handling to workplace stress.
    • Continuous improvement initiatives and local safety programs are in place across all sites.

By combining commitment, culture, and compliance, we are steadily moving closer to our vision of becoming a zero-accident company.
