In 2008, Haldex decided to sell Garphyttan Wire. The ownership change took place during a period of global financial uncertainty following the financial crisis of 2008. The buyer was Suzuki Metal Industry from Japan, and the transaction was completed in June 2009.
In 2009, the company adopted the name Suzuki Garphyttan.
While the ownership and company name changed, the core of the business remained the same. The company continued to build on more than a century of expertise in advanced spring wire while becoming part of a larger international industrial group. Growth also continued. In 2014, the Leeds operation (formerly KTS) in the United Kingdom became part of Suzuki Garphyttan. The acquisition broadened the company's product offering in technical wire, strengthened its international position and added new expertise to the business.
Preparations also began for a new production facility in San José Iturbide, Mexico. As many automotive manufacturers expanded their operations in Mexico, Suzuki Garphyttan invested in local production to be closer to customers and meet growing demand across North America.
Looking back, this decade was defined by change. The company entered the period as Garphyttan Wire and left it as Suzuki Garphyttan. New ownership, a new identity, and continued international growth marked a new phase in the company’s history. Suzuki Garphyttan continued to grow alongside its customers, strengthening its global presence while remaining focused on advanced spring wire.
As the company moved into its next chapter, the foundations were in place for continued growth and an even stronger global presence.
